Su Hyeon Park is a South Korean soprano who possesses a beautiful legato. A busy performer, Ms. Park was featured in the 2023–24 season as a Hattie Mae Lesley Resident Artist at Fort Worth Opera, where she performed the roles of Michaëla in ‘Tragedy of Carmen’, Gretel in ‘Hänsel and Gretel’, Mrs. Gobineau and Monica (cover) in the Spanish world premiere of ‘La Médium’, and Mimì (cover) in ‘La Bohème’. She also performed as the Daughter in ‘Cinderella 99’ at the Jake Heggie Concert Series hosted by The Cliburn. In 2024, she made her recital debut as a young artist at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg.
Recognized as a talented singer from an early age, Ms. Park was named an Excellent Young Artist at the Beniamino Gigli International Vocal Competition. In 2023, she received the Encouragement Award from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition (Georgia District) and the Grand Prize at the New Jersey Korean Young Artist Music Competition.
She is currently pursuing a Professional Performance Diploma at the Manhattan School of Music (MSM) under Mark Schnaible. She performed the role of the Foreign Princess in ‘Rusalka’, conducted by Kelly Kuo, as part of MSM Opera Theater’s 2024–25 season. For the upcoming season, she will be performing the role of Vitellia in Mozart’s ‘La clemenza di Tito’, conducted by George Manahan.
Ms. Park earned her master’s degree from the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) at the University of Cincinnati, where she studied with Amy Johnson and Thomas Baresel, performed the roles of Barbarina in ‘Le nozze di Figaro’ and Poppea in ‘Agrippina’, and participated in a master class with soprano Nicole Cabell. She previously earned her bachelor’s degree from Sejong University (Korea), where she studied under Eun-kyung Oh.
