Tess Levine is a rising coloratura soprano, driven by the desire to breathe new life into the classic stories told in opera. She has a passion for intertwining the magic of Shakespeare with the dramatic expression of opera, which she was able to showcase last summer as she covered Tytania and Cobweb at Opera Theatre of: St. Louis as a Gerdine Young Artist. She also enchanted audiences with her portrayal of Tytania in Boston Conservatory at Berklee’s steampunk production, and played a captivating Helena at Chicago Summer Opera the summer before.
Her repertoire extends beyond the realms of Shakespearean fantasy, as seen in her portrayals of Nellie Ewell in Lee Hoiby’s Summer and Smoke and Amore in Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, where her voice embodied youthful vibrancy and joy.
Tess received her Master’s in Music at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where she studied with her current teacher, Dr. Rebecca Folsom. She received her Bachelor's in Music from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Cynthia Hoffmann. She has had the privilege of honing her skills in masterclasses led by renowned artists such as Ricky Ian Gordon, Warren Jones, Isabel Leonard, and Lawrence Brownlee.
In recognition of her outstanding talent, Tess received the Camille Colouratura Awards Encouragement Award in 2024 and Lotte Lenya Emerging Young Artist Award in 2021.
