Clarinetist Triniti Rives earned her Bachelor of Music in Music Performance (Clarinet) at the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance, under the tutelage of Professors Daniel Gilbert, and Chad Burrow. She is currently working towards her Masters degree in Clarinet Performance at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music under the tutelage of Professor Richie Hawley.
While at Michigan, Triniti performed with the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra, and the University of Michigan Symphony Band. A lover of chamber music, she is a founding member of the Novus Reed Quintet, which has received recognition at various competitions – including the Coltman Chamber Music Competition in Austin, TX, and the Briggs Chamber Music Competition in Ann Arbor, MI – and have premiered various works for reed quintet through partnerships with the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings, as well as through the UM School of Music, Theatre and Dance's Chamber Department. An advocate for the arts, Triniti is an alumna of Sigma Alpha Iota, Alpha Chapter, in which she served as head of the Education and Community Engagement committee, as well as a general member of the Professional Development Committee.
Triniti currently serves as a substitute clarinetist with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra (2022 - present), and was previously a substitute clarinetist with the New World Symphony (2022 - 2023). She has performed under the batons of Marin Alsop, JoAnn Falletta, Eric Jacobsen, John Morris Russell, Stéphane Denève, and other celebrated conductors. Additionally, she has presented pre-concert performances with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and has performed in masterclasses for a variety of renowned clarinet professionals and pedagogues, including Anthony McGill, Yehuda Gilad, Ricardo Morales, Michael Wayne. Triniti's summer festival appearances include the Music Acadmey of the West, where she was a finalist in the coveted Keston MAX competition, the National Orchestral Institute + Festival, where she can be heard on the NOI Philharmonics Sixth Naxos Label Album, directed by JoAnn Falletta, and the Eastern Music Festival.
Originally from Fayetteville, GA, Triniti is an alumna of both the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s Talent Development Program, in which she studied under the tutelage of Marci Gurnow, Second Clarinet with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Beyond music, Triniti indulges in photography, enjoys video games, and experiments with baking.
