Born and raised in Southern California, TYLAR NICHOLS is a graduate of The Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University where he studied with Jon Boen, Greg Flint, and Dale Clevenger of The Chicago Symphony, as well as being mentored in arts leadership by former CSO president Henry Fogel. At home, Tylar has studied numerous successful studio musicians including Brian O’Connor, Dylan Hart, & John Mason, in addition to Dr. Annie Bosler at The Colburn School. Currently, Tylar is pursuing graduate study at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music where he has resumed his studies with Prof. Clevenger. Prior to enrolling at IU in 2020 Tylar served as principal horn with the Westlake Village Symphony and freelanced in the Los Angeles area performing with a diverse array of ensembles as well as recording for film & TV soundtracks. Ever the proud Californian, Tylar plans on returning home to resume his work in Los Angeles upon completion of his studies at Indiana University. Beyond music, Tylar’s interests include cars, food, and travel. Tylar plays on a 2012 Lewis & Dürk LDx7, a 1969 M-series Conn 8D, and a 1978 Paxman Model 40L
