Bass-baritone Tzvi Bat Asherah is currently pursuing his Master of Music degree from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University where he studies under the tutelage of Robin Rice. He will be performing the role of Ford in Rice’s production of Verdi’s Falstaff in spring of 2026. He was most recently seen as the English Ambassador in John Corigliano’s The Ghosts of Versailles, as the titular Don Giovanni, and as the fiery Donner from Wagner’s Das Rheingold.
In the interim, after finishing his undergraduate degree and beginning his master’s studies, Tzvi had the distinct pleasure of taking part in The Santa Fe Opera’s 2024 season as a member of the prestigious Apprentice Program for Singers. During that season he made his professional debut as Waiter 3 in Der Rosenkavalier.
Tzvi spent much of his undergraduate studies at the University of New Mexico immersed in their opera theatre program. During his time there he was given the opportunity to play Figaro in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Superintendent Budd from Britten’s Albert Herring, as well as the Town Magistrate in Pasatieri’s Signor Deluso. All of these roles served as catalysts to build Tzvi’s knowledge and passion for his craft and further his understanding of operatic style.
