Victoria Antionette Davis
Praised for her “bright resonance, immaculate technical management...” (OperaWire), young soprano Victoria Antionette Davis is quickly earning recognition for her powerful tone, nuanced musicianship, and magnetic stage presence. Known for the emotional depth and clarity she brings to every role, she moves fluidly between classic and contemporary repertoire with natural authority.
In the 2024–2025 season, Davis makes her role debut as Margru in Anthony Davis’s Amistad with Connecticut Lyric Opera. She returns to Verdi, covering Alice Ford in Falstaff with the Geneva Light Opera.
Recent highlights include Mary in William Grant Still’s Highway 1, U.S.A. with Little Opera Theatre of New York in 2023 and Opera Ithaca in 2022, the title role in Suor Angelica with Opera Susquehanna, Lily in Tobias Picker’s Awakenings with Odyssey Opera (featured on the commercial recording released by BMOP/sound), and Mrs. Zegner in Proving Up with Opera Ithaca. She also originated a role in Felix Jarrar’s Stardust with Helios Opera, written expressly for her voice. Additional appearances include Opera Baltimore’s Opera on the Avenue in 2022 and American Opera Projects’ C&V Scenes in 2021.
In 2023, she covered Indra Thomas in Teatro Grattacielo’s La Vestale, marking a significant step in her exploration of early Romantic and Verdi repertoire.
Davis’s performances have garnered praise from national critics. Davis has received honors in some of the nation’s most prestigious vocal competitions. She is a District Winner in the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, a Finalist in both the Jensen Foundation Vocal Competition and the James Toland Greenfield Award, and a recipient of awards from the Giulio Gari Foundation, Gerda Lissner Foundation, and Harlem Opera Competition, where she won First Place.
She holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Oberlin Conservatory and a Master of Music from Mannes School of Music at The New School.
