Biography

Viktorija Miškūnaitė

Soprano Viktorija Miškūnaitė is already a star in her native Lithuania where her association with the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet has seen her triumph in leading soprano roles including Violetta LA Traviata, Micaela Carmen, Manon Manon,Mimi La Bohème, Elisabetta Don Carlo, Rosalinde Die Fledermaus and Giulietta I Capuleti è I Montecchi. At the end of this season she will make her role-debut as Elettra IDOMENEO with the company in a production directed by Graham Vick.  She will also sing the soprano solo in Rachmaninov’s The Bells with the MittelDeutscher Rundfunk under the direction of Risto Joost at the Leipzig Gewandhaus in May 2018. Her recent engagements include her debut as Marchesa del Poggio in Verdi’s rarely performed Giorno di regno at the 43rd Festival della Valle d’Itria in Italy and the role of Giulietta I Capuleti è I Montecchi for the Academia Internationale Rodolfo Celletti Belcanto. Her current engagements with the Lithuanian Opera include Mimi La Bohème, Elisabetta DON CARLO, Giulietta I Capuleti è I Montecchi   and the title-role MANON. Ms. Miškūnaitė studied vocal performance at the Lithuanian Academy of Music, continuing her studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Stuttgart. Her early career saw her participate in several masterclasses with reputable artists such as Barbara Bonney, Claudio Desderi, Tim Carroll, Peter Konwitschny and others. Miškūnaitė is well recognised in her own country, being the recipient of several awards, including the Lithuanian National Theater of Opera and Ballet “Opera Soloist of the Year” award for her performance as of Massenet’s Manon, and the Golden Cross of the Stage award, one of the most prestigious theatre and cultural awards in Lithuania.
