Virginia Mims

Virginia Mims returns to the role of Musetta (La Bohème) and debuts the role of Despina (Così fan tutte) at Sarasota Opera during their ‘25-’26 season. Her 2025 Summer Season will be spent at Aspen Music Festival where she is a Renée Fleming Artist singing Musetta (La Bohème) with star tenor, Matthew Polenzani, and covering Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) under the baton of Patrick Summers. Role credits include Susanna (Nozze di Figaro) and Rowan (The Little Sweep) at Sarasota Opera, Mimì (La Bohème) at Sachsenwald Forum (Reinbek, DE); Musetta (La Bohème), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Mary Bailey (It’s A Wonderful Life by Heggie), Blumenmädchen (Parsifal) with Indiana University Opera Theater; Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro) with Brevard Music Center; and Zemfira (Aleko) with Carol Vaness’ Opera Workshop. During the ‘24-’25 season, Virginia debuted at Carnegie Hall singing the Soprano Solos in Taylor Scott Davis’ Magnificat. This May, she returns to Carnegie Hall to sing the Soprano Solos in Vivaldi’s Magnificat with the New England Symphonic Ensemble. During Summer 2023, Virginia attended the prestigious International Meistersinger Akademie where she sang excerpts of Manon (Manon), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), and Violetta (La Traviata). She holds her Masters and Bachelors of Music from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. She has garnered prizes and study grants from prestigious organizations such as the Jensen Foundation, National Opera Association, Luminarts Cultural Foundation, Schmidt Vocal Foundation, National Society of Arts and Letters, and YoungArts Foundation.
