"Taiwanese violist Wan-Zhen Xie enjoys connecting music with diverse audiences. She won Second Prize in the National Student Competition of Music in Taiwan. Wan-Zhen served as the principal violist of the National Taiwan Normal University Symphony Orchestra and New Music Ensemble Orchestra. She is currently a member of Taipei International United Youth Symphony Orchestra and has performed in chamber ensembles and orchestral performances including the TSO Youth Chamber Orchestra, Yin-Qi Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and the Collegium Musicum Taipei. Wan-Zhen completed her bachelor’s degree in viola performance at the National Taiwan Normal University and is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at Indiana University under the mentorship of Stephen Wyrczynski. She has participated in master classes with Nobuko Imai, Dimitri Murrath, and Rita Porfiris. Wan-Zhen is currently coached in chamber music by members of the Pacifica String Quartet. Wan-Zhen explores new music through collaboration with composers to develop and perform new works. Her collaborations with composers have shaped many powerful performances of new compositions. "
