Carmen Voskuhl is an emerging mezzo-soprano based in San Francisco, CA. She is pursuing a Masters of Music at San Francisco Conservatory of Music (SFCM) in the studio of Catherine Cook. Most notably, Carmen Voskuhl originated the role of El Alma in Carla Lucero’s Juana, which gained her praise from the Los Angeles Times, commenting on her “commanding vocal and theatrical presence.” Other roles she has performed include Acis (Acis and Galatea), the Old Lady (Candide) and Le Mari (Les Mamelles de Tirésias). She has performed in renowned programs such as the Aspen Music Festival, Opera Parallele, and Songfest. Carmen Voskuhl is a recent graduate from the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music with a Bachelor of Music in vocal performance. She was a part of the Seraphic Fire Ensemble Artist Program at UCLA and the UCLA Chamber Singers. With the UCLA Chamber Singers, she was a chorus member in the recording of Richard Danielpour’s The Passion of Yeshua which won a Grammy for Best Choral Performance and was nominated in two other categories.
