Bass-baritone William Dopp is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. He received his MM degree in vocal performance from Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music this past spring and holds a BM in vocal performance from Southeastern Louisiana University. While at the Shepherd School, William performed the roles of Louis XVI in The Ghosts of Versailles, Fasolt in Das Rhinegold, Melisso in Alcina, Collatinus in The Rape of Lucretia, Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin, Littore in Poppea, and Carl Olsen in Street Scene. This past summer, William made his debut with The Florentine Opera singing the role of commentator in Derrick Wang’s Scalia/Ginsburg. Last summer, William performed the roles of Reverend Hale in The Crucible and Baron Douphol in La Traviata with Opera in the Ozarks at Inspiration Point. Additional performances include Vodník in Rusalka with LAH-SOW, the baritone soloist in Faure’s requiem with the renowned Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church choir in Houston, TX, and Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro with FIO Italia in Urbania, Italy. In the summer of 2019, William was a part of the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria as a member of their international opera studio. William will join the Florida Grand Opera studio artist program this year, where he will be a part of their 2025-2026 season.
