With notable performances across both regional and national stages, she has made a strong impression through appearances with companies such as Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Glimmerglass Festival. She is also a District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
Chinese lyric mezzo-soprano Xiao Xiao is quickly gaining recognition for the warmth and brilliance of her voice with soulful and expressive artistry on stage. Xiao is embracing both standard repertoire as well as contemporary works, from the operatic stage to the recital hall, she strives to bring depth and emotional connection to the hearts and souls of global audiences.
Notable Roles performed including The title role of La Cenerentola, and L’enfant et les sortilèges, Ma Joad in The Grapes of Wrath, Third lady in Die Zauberflöte/Magic flute, Contessa in I Due Figaro, Linfea/Destino in Cavalli’s La Calisto, Dorabella in Così Fan Tutte, Mercédès in Carmen, Hiroko in An American dream, Jim in The Gift of the Magi, Henrietta Wong in Harvey Milk(premiere), among others. Xiao has made a strong impression through appearances with companies such as Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, the Glimmerglass Festival and Opera de Metro.
Xiao is a District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and a winner in the Toscanini International Competition and the Orpheus Vocal Competition.
Xiao is an alumna of Manhattan School of music, New England Conservatory of Music and currently a DMA candidate/Teaching Assistant at Michigan State University.
