Xiaochun Yao, Soprano
Soprano Xiaochun Yao is currently pursuing her Professional Studies Diploma at the Mannes School of Music, where she studies with Arthur Levy. She holds a Master’s degree from the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing and a Bachelor’s degree from Xinghai Conservatory of Music.
Ms. Yao’s recent stage appearances include Carolina in Il matrimonio segreto and Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice with Classic Lyric Arts, as well as Susanna and Chorus in Le Nozze di Figaro and Don Giovanni at the Prague Summer Nights Festival. She also performed Pamina in Die Zauberflöte with Divaldo Oskara Nedbala, and previously portrayed Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Central Conservatory of Music.
Her concert engagements in Italy featured her as a soloist in opera scenes at Piazza San Francesco, Talamello, and Teatro Angelo Mariani, where she performed repertoire from Concerto d’Opera, Musica con Vista, and Summer Serenata.
She has worked under the baton of conductors Craig Kier, John Nardolillo, and Michelle Rofrano, and collaborated with stage directors including Garnett Bruce, Mary Duncan, and Daniel Isengart. Her vocal coaches include Glenn Morton, Joshua Greene, Justina Lee, and Reed Woodhouse.
A versatile and expressive lyric coloratura soprano, Xiaochun Yao brings a blend of technical finesse, dramatic instinct, and cultural depth to her performances, and is dedicated to further developing her artistry through professional training and stage experience.
