Xiaohan Chen, Chinese mezzo-soprano, is now a resident in the United States. Ms. Chen is an Opera Performance doctoral candidate at the University of Georgia and holds a Master’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music. Xiaohan is an emerging artist who has performed in operatic and concert works across the United States, Canada, and China. She has recently collaborated with Fort Worth Opera and The Atlanta Opera. Additionally, Xiaohan has established the Dr. Chen Voice Studio in Suwanee to support aspiring singers.
Xiaohan’s recent roles have included Carmen (Carmen), Dorabella (Così fan Tutte), Tania (A Visit to the country), Angelina (La Cenerentola), Postcard from Morocco (Hat Box lady & Foreign Singer), Siébel (Faust), Olga (Eugene Onegin), Hansel (Hänsel & Gretel), and Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro). Her solo work and notable concert performances include the 96 Hour Opera project with The Atlanta Opera, Messiah (Handel), “His Light Still Shine” with Fort Worth Opera, “Water Passion” with Tan Dun in Metropolitan Art of Museum, “Concert De Gala” at Montreal, Manhattan School of Music “Conservatory Project” in Kennedy Center, and Chinese New Year Gala at Beijing Phoenix TV Station. Recently, Xiaohan received the Director's Excellence Award from University of Georgia, Opera Guild Atlanta finalist, New York Classic Music Society competition finalist. Xiaohan also trained as a young artist at the International Vocal Arts Institute, and Canadian Vocal Arts Institute, contracted with FIO International Opera-Italia, Miami Music Festival, Russian Opera Workshop, and Berlin Opera Academy.
