Chinese mezzo-soprano Ziqi Wang. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Opera Performance at the University of Texas at Austin. She holds a Master’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Bachelor’s degree from the Nanjing University of the Arts In the upcoming 2025–26 season, Ziqi will appear with the Butler Opera Center performing leading roles including Prince(Cendrillon) and Bradamante (Alcina).
Ziqi’s operatic experience spans a wide range of styles and roles. Full productions include Orlofsky(Die Fledermaus), Mère Jeanne de l’Enfant Jésus (Dialogues des Carmélites), Alice (Lucia di Lammermoor), Third lady (Die Zauberflöte) and Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro). She has also brought to life iconic characters in staged scenes such as Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia), the title role in Carmen, Mallika (Lakmé), Fidalma ( Il matrimonio segreto) , Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte) , Lucretia( The Rape of Lucretia) and Nicklausse (Les Contes d’Hoffmann), among others, demonstrating remarkable versatility and depth across diverse mezzo repertoire styles.
Ziqi was a winner of the Beethoven Young Musician Copetition, and received Fourth Prize at both the International Music Copetition Vienna and the Colorado Internaltional Music competition.
