Zoe Zeniodi

Zoe Zeniodi, hailed by the press as “Mrs. Dynamite” and “Ingenious Greek Maestro” has an international career which has led her to conduct productions in Carnegie Hall, New Zealand Opera, Opera Southwest, Florida Grand Opera, Greek National Opera, Onassis Cultural Center, Festival of the Aegean, among others. She has guest conducted Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra, Wellington Orchestra, Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Bogota Philharmonic, Brno Philharmonic, South Czech Philharmonic, Tokyo Star Symphony Orchestra, Palm Beach Symphony, Orchestra Classica Toscana, New Florida Philharmonic, Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra, Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, Pan-European Philharmonic, Youth Orchestra of Colombia and all the Greek Symphony Orchestras, among many others. She is a Fellow of the Hart Institute of Women Conductors (Dallas Opera) since 2016 where she has taken part in concerts and workshops with The Dallas Opera, San Francisco Opera and Julliard School of Music. Zoe is the Principal Guest Conductor for “Asia-Europe” New Music Festival in Hanoi, Vietnam and the Artistic Advisor of the Festival of the Aegean. Recent highlights include a highly successful run of “Le Nozze di Figaro” for New Zealand Opera, concerts with Stephen Hough and Lise de la Salle as well as being the first woman to ever conduct at Opera Southwest (“I Pagliacci”) and a Carnegie Hall Debut with the New England Symphonic Ensemble. Previous positions include: Artistic Director of Thessaloniki Concert Hall (2019-2020), Principal Conductor of the Greek-Turkish Youth Orchestra (2017-2020), Artistic Director of "Consonances" annual music series, Onassis Foundation (2017-2020), Artistic & Music Director of the Broward Symphony Orchestra (2010-2016), Chief Conductor of the MOYSA Youth Symphony Orchestra (2015), Assistant/Cover Conductor for the Florida Grand Opera (2012-2015), Music Director & Principal Conductor of the Alhambra Orchestra (2013-2015), Associate Music Director & Conductor of the Festival of the Aegean (2013-2015) and Associate Conductor of the Frost Symphony Orchestra (2007-2011). She has also taken part in prestigious music courses where she has conducted the Cleveland Orchestra and the Stockholm Sinfonietta. She has recorded for the Greek National Radio, both as a conductor and as a pianist. She has released three commercial recordings on the Albany Records to critical acclaim: Thomas Sleeper’s "Translucence", "Hetaera Esmeralda", Symphonies Nos. 2, 3, 5 (Brno Philharmonic) and "XENIA" (Frost Symphony Orchestra), as well as Frank Ticheli’s master song-cycle “An American Dream” (Frost Symphony Orchestra). She also released “ThivaKm102” with the ARTéfacts Ensemble (Puzzlemusik) and Thomas Sleeper’s “Through a Glass darkly” and “Vocal Music” with the 21st Ensemble (Uroboros Music). Future plans include recording of the complete piano oeuvre of Thomas Sleeper. Zoe has premiered and recorded Thomas Sleeper's works Hetaera Esmeralda, Translucence, XENIA, Parallages, Sisters Antipodes, Concerto for Alto Saxophone, Through a Glass Darkly and his symphonies Nos.2, 3, 5. A champion of new music, she has conducted projects like Romitelli’s “An Index of Metals” for the Onassis Cultural Center and is the Principal Guest Conductor for the International “Asia-Europe” New Music Festival in Hanoi, Vietnam and Kazan, Tatarstan. Between 2017-2020, she was the Artistic Director of the concert series “Consonances” presented yearly at the Onassis Cultural Center through the Onassis Foundation Scholars Association of which she was the President. As a solo and collaborative pianist, Zoe has appeared in major concert halls and festivals in England (eg. Purcell Room, St Martin in the Fields, St James’s Piccadilly), France (eg. Montpellier Festival, Guibwiller Festival), Germany (eg. Alte Oper Frankfurt, Toscana Saal Würzburg, Rheinsberg Festival, Halle, Kierl, Leipzig, Dortmund, Berlin, Cologne), Russia (Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Kazan), Austria (Wienersaal Salzburg), Belgium (European Union Hall), Holland (The Hague Embassy Festival), Croatia (Lisinsky Concert Hall), Venezuela (Banco Consolidado), Greece (eg. Onassis Cultural Center, Greek Opera House, Athens and Thessaloniki Concert Halls), Italy, Mauritius and the USA, among others. In 2003 she was named a Junior Fellow in Piano Accompaniment at the Royal College of Music. She has worked as a coach for singers at: Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme, Nice Summer Academy, Mozarteum University and Summer Academy, Abingdon School for Singers, Greek National Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Royal College of Music, Greek National Conservatory, University of Miami, among many others.
