Biography
Danira Rodriguez
Danira Rodríguez Purcell began playing the violin at the age of 6. She continued her musical studies at the Preparatory School of the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, where under the tutelage of Dr. Francisco Cabán, she also obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Violin Performance. Danira has participated in international summer festivals, such as Sphinx Performance Academy, Interlochen Music Festival, the Orchestra of the Americas, and the Casals Festival in Prades, France. As a camerist, she has had the opportunity to perform in master classes for great masters such as Rachel Barton Pine, Guillermo Figueroa, Sergiu Schwartz and the Takacs Quartet; as a soloist, she recently performed at the National Theater of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, where she was a finalist in the Young Musician of the Caribbean 2022 Competition. As a pedagogue, she obtained her certifications in the Suzuki Method and has been teaching at the Puerto Rican School for Music since 2018. Her students have been selected as soloists with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra and awarded scholarships for festivals in Puerto Rico and the United States. Since 2017, Danira has been a permanent member of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. In the past September, Danira started her graduate studies in violin performance under the tutelage of Prof. Janet Sung, at DePaul University, Chicago.
