Tarun Bellur is a percussionist, timpanist, and educator based in New York City and a native of Dallas, TX. Tarun is currently a percussionist with the Eugene Symphony Orchestra in Eugene, Oregon. Tarun has performed with a variety of ensembles such as the New York Philharmonic, Harlem Chamber Players, Uptown Philharmonic, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago in a variety of venues including Carnegie Hall and Symphony Hall in Chicago. He most recently performed with the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s summer academy, as one of their 2023 fellows. He’s also spent past summers with the Spoleto Music Festival and the Round Top Music Festival and has worked with esteemed conductors including Andris Nelsons, Dima Slobodeniouk, Susanna Malkki, Xian Zhang, Giancarlo Guerrero, Yaniv Dinur, Michelle Merrill, Carl St. Clair, Leonard Slatkin, Herbert Blomstedt, and Kensho Watanabe. He’s had the privilege of studying with Christopher Lamb, Duncan Patton, She-e Wu, Kyle Zerna, and Rob Parks. Tarun received his Bachelor’s Degree of Music from Northwestern University where he graduated with department honors, receiving a double major in Percussion Performance and Music Cognition as well as a minor in Cognitive Sciences. He received his Master’s Degree in Music in 2022 from the Manhattan School of Music’s Orchestral Performance Program.
