Daniel O’Hearn is an emerging operatic tenor from Tinley Park, IL, a south suburb of Chicago. ​ Mr. O'Hearn is currently a resident artist with Utah Opera. His 2021/22 season responsibilities include performing the roles of Bill in Dove’s Flight and Spoletta in Puccini’s Tosca. He is also slated to cover Count Almaviva in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Frederic in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Pirates of Penzance.

Biography

Daniel O'Hearn

In the summer of 2021, Mr. O'Hearn was a first year apprentice artist for Santa Fe Opera. There, he covered the roles of Tom Snout in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Peasant in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and sang in the chorus. Mr. O'Hearn also performed in operatic scenes as Remendado from Bizet's Carmen and Marcellus from Thomas' Hamlet in the company's apprentice showcase. He has been invited back to Santa Fe Opera for their 2022 season, covering the roles of Remendado in Bizet's Carmen and The Sailor in Wagner's Tristan und Isolde. ​ In addition to his operatic work, Mr. O’Hearn has also performed as a soloist in a number of classical concert works in the Chicagoland area. Recently, he has performed in Stravinsky's Pulcinella with the Utah Symphony with Maestro Thierry Fischer, Handel’s Messiah with the Utah Symphony, and in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the DePaul Community Chorus. ​ In June of 2020, he graduated with a master of music in performance from DePaul University’s School of Music in Chicago, IL, where he studied with tenor, Scott Ramsay. He most recently appeared in the university’s operatic productions of Britten’s arrangement of Gay’s The Beggar’s Opera as Captain Macheath, and Cavalli’s L’Egisto as Egisto.    Mr. O’Hearn has also competed in several singing competitions, winning the Metropolitan Opera National Council’s 2020-21 Utah District and 2019-2020 Illinois District, winning the 2019 American Prize from the American Prize Oratorio Society of Chicago, and placing first in the 2019 Kleinman Competition.
