Biography

Emily Triebold

Contralto Emily Triebold is sought after for her interpretations of a range of well-known modern and lyric roles. In her 2022 season, she was regarded as “seductive and darling” in her house debut as Giovanna in Rigoletto with Nashville Opera (Music City Review), was a soloist in a rare performance of Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream with the New York City Ballet, and covered Martha in Sky on Swings with Opera Saratoga. In 2022, she returns to Pensacola Opera as a soloist in Forty Forward. Ms. Triebold’s 2021 engagements included a house debut as Mrs. Cripps (Buttercup) in H.M.S. Pinafore with Pensacola Opera. Her 2019-2020 season with the company involved her slated house debut as Ines (COVID19) in Il trovatore, covers of Zerlina in Don Giovanni and Hannah After in the increasingly popular new opera, As One, and as a soloist in the concert Easy to Love. In the summer of 2020, she was slated to cover the Second Wood-Sprite in Rusalka as part of the Apprentice Artist program with Santa Fe Opera (COVID19). Her 2018 and 2019 summer seasons particularly featured her affinity for new works as she continued her tenure with Des Moines Metro Opera, where she sang the Baroness in Candide, covered Julia Child in Bon Appétit!, made her house debut as Mrs. Splinters in The Tender Land, and covered the Minkswoman in Flight. Her 2017-2018 season included performances as Rosina in The Barber of Seville with OPERA Iowa. In 2015-2016, she sang Marcellina in The Marriage of Figaro with Opera Across Nebraska, made her debut at Carnegie Hall as a soloist in Stroope’s American Rhapsody, and sang Goffredo in Rinaldo with the Fresco Opera Theatre, Meg in Little Women, and multiple performances of The Mother in Amahl and the Night Visitors. Earlier credits include Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia with La Musica Lirica. She has served as a young artist at companies including Opera Saratoga, Nashville Opera, and Pensacola Opera, and enjoys a particularly strong relationship with Des Moines Metro Opera, where she sang as an Apprentice Artist for three seasons. Ms. Triebold’s interpretations have made her a standout in the competition setting by a number of reputable institutions. She is lauded for her interpretation of Brahms, having received first prize from the Great Composers Competition: Best Brahms Performance in 2017. She was a National Semi-Finalist at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Artist Awards in 2016, and holds First Prize in their West Central Regional Auditions in 2015. She also won First Prize at the UWW Aria/Concerto Competition in 2014. Her most recent win is from the district level of the Laffont Competition formerly known as the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in 2018. Ms. Triebold holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. A proud native of Wisconsin, she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
