Hailed as a “Rising Star in the Guitar World” (Corvallis Arts Review), Jaxon Williams is an acclaimed classical guitarist and pedagogue. He has won prizes in various international competitions, including the OSAA Classical Guitar Competition, Sierra Nevada International Classical Guitar Competition, San Francisco Classical Guitar Competition, Pacific Guitar Competition, and Beverly Hills National Auditions. Jaxon is praised as “a player of rare power and grace” (William Kanengiser, GRAMMY award winning LAGQ), and is a sought after performer of both the classical and Flamenco guitar. He is also a former Fulbright scholar, having studied in Spain, where he mastered the Spanish guitar.
An education specialist, Jaxon served as California Regional Director for the non-profit Lead Guitar (leadguitar.org), where he built classical guitar programs in low-access public schools, trained new teachers, and supervised existing programs. He is also co-founder, and faculty member of guitarlab (guitarlab.us), an online intensive for advanced young classical guitarists to experience conservatory-level instruction and career mentorship. Jaxon also works with many different new music collectives to promote and perform new compositions for the guitar, including Sounding Board Project (soundingboardfest.com), The Resonance Collective (https://www.resonancecollective.org/), and the Jâca Emerging Composer’s Competition.
Jaxon has produced three solo guitar albums featuring music from the full spectrum of Classical guitar repertoire, and one album on Navona Records with the duo Jâca, which has received critical acclaim including the 2023 IPMA “Best Instrumental Performance” award.
Jaxon holds a Doctorate in Guitar Performance from the University of Southern California, where he studied with William Kanengiser and Scott Tennant of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and furthered his Flamenco studies with virtuoso Adam del Monte. Jaxon plays a guitar built by luthier Paulino Bernabé of Madrid, Spain.
