Jiawei began his violin studies with renowned violinist Chai Liang at the age of 10. During the eight year of studying with Chai Liang, he has entered and won violin competitions in China. Jiawei is alumni of the Central Conservatory Preparatory School in Beijing. He then studied at the La Sierra University where he received both the Music Performance Diploma and Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance studying with Jason Uyeyama. After graduation, he went to study at Boston Conservatory at Berklee with Lynn Chang. As an avid performer, Jiawei has performed at the Beijing Concert hall, Bin Hai Culture Center, BSO, Mechanics Hall, and Walt Disney Concert hall. Jiawei not only performs classical music but he also enjoys performing popular music. He works as a session musician performing for film score sessions, pop music recording sessions and contemporary music recording. Jiawei enjoys plays with the Chrysalis Rock Orchestra but also enjoys serving the community by performing at the St. Cecelias Parish. He plays for weddings, funerals, corporate events and companies and celebrations such as performing for the German United Day Event hosted by the German Consulate. Not only that, Jiawei has been an active teacher teaching in the summers when he returns back to China for vacation. Currently in Boston, Jiawei teaches both private and group class violin and viola.
