'Escobar' received a rave review by Olin Chism of the Fort Worth Star Telegram, where he wrote "For me, the most successful of the eight excerpts was Matteo Neri’s 'Escobar'...The quality of the music was high, and the story was gripping." The full opera is currently being developed with Florida Grand Opera and librettist Alejandra Martinez; it will be premiered as a co-production in 2025 (companies to be announced soon). Matteo's one-act opera, 'Our Lobotomist,' a collaboration with librettist Edward Einhorn, was premiered at Yeoryia Studios (NYC) in February, 2019.
