Known for her soaring high notes, rich legato, and impressive coloratura, American soprano Sarah Heilman has performed operatic roles such as Vitellia in La Clemenza di Tito, Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, Mademoiselle Silberklang in Der Schauspieldirektor, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Adele in Die Fledermaus, and Berginella in La Périchole. This season, Sarah debuted the role of Vitellia in Vienna with the premiere Mozart Opera Studio of the European Music Institute. She also advanced to the Semifinals of the 2022 Gabriela Benackova International Vocal Competition in Jihlava, Czech Republic, and will compete in the North Carolina District of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition in January 2023. Last season, Sarah advanced to the Semifinals of the 2021 Montserrat Caballé International Singing Competition in Barcelona, Spain, and participated in the coveted masterclass series with famed tenor Francisco Araiza at the European Music Institute in Vienna. She was also recently named a soprano soloist with the Diplomatic Choir of Berlin and performed Verdi’s Requiem in the Berliner Dom. Her previous young artist performances include those with the Berlin Opera Academy, the International Vocal Arts Academy, The Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival, and the Franco-American Vocal Academy. Sarah has been a featured soloist with the New York Sounds of Arts Festival, North Carolina Master Chorale, and the Vanderbilt University Chorale.
Sarah holds a Bachelor’s of Music from Vanderbilt University and a Master’s of Music from Mannes School of Music at The New School. She currently studies with acclaimed soprano Elizabeth de Trejo. Sarah resides with her husband in Berlin.
