Toni Marie Palmertree

Toni Marie Palmertree is an American soprano praised for her tender, expressive voice (SF Examiner). Most recently, appearing in the title role of Luisa Miller, Ms. Palmertree made her house and role debut at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. The Chicago Herald wrote, " Palmertree's artistic approach to this challenging role, thoughtful and professional presentation of her vocal part, and the natural beauty of her voice touched everyone's heart."

This season, Ms. Palmertree joins the roster of the The Metropolitan Opera Metropolitan opera covering the title role in Cherubini's Medea.  She returns later in the season to make her house debut singing the Voice of Heaven in Verdi's Don Carlo in addition to covering the role of Elisabetta.  Next season Toni Marie looks forward to making house debuts with Palm Beach Opera  as Madama Butterfly and Florida Grand Opera as Tosca.

At the San Francisco Opera , Ms. Palmertree has made numerous leading role debuts, including Nedda (I Pagliacci), Liù (Turandot), and Cio Cio San (Madama Butterfly). The San Francisco Chronicle lauded her Liù as a “performance of wondrous poignancy and heroism...clothed in vigorous, expressive phrasing”. Another triumph at San Francisco Opera was her last-minute house and role debut of Madama Butterfly, of which San Francisco Classical Voice wrote: “The young soprano not only met the challenge, but she claimed her place among the finest vocal interpreters of the role...”

Previous roles include, Tosca, Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro, Violetta, (La Traviata), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Elisabetta (Don Carlo), Giorgetta (Il Tabarro) and Suor Angelica (Suor Angelica).

Ms. Palmertree is proud to hold many awards, including the Olga Forrai Foundation Grant,  Richard F. Gold Career Grant by the Shoshana Foundation, and winner of The Metropolitan Opera National Council District Awards.
