Truth Future Bachman (they/them/theirs) is a “rising-star nonbinary composer” (Playbill), vocalist, and writer of socially focused musicals. NYTimes: “musically and vocally rich”, Truth is praised for “golden-voiced”, “soulful vocals” (Vulture). They were recently featured in Teen Vogue. Bachman’s acclaimed Shapeshifters, about LGBTQ+ community, was developed at an ongoing residency at Joe’s Pub, The Delacorte Theatre, Musical Theatre Factory, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, and was the inaugural recipient of the Denovan Grant. FARMED: A Live Podcast Album (WNYC’s Greenespace, Kickstarter HeadQuarters), Bachman’s musical podcast concert, features interviews with grassroots leaders and a vocally percussive score for 25 voices. It was recently published and will resume live performances in 2023.

Their short film Who Holds Us debuted at NewFest 2021. Truth is an artist in residence at La Mama E.T.C. and an alum of New Dramatists Composer-Librettist Studio, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, Joe’s Pub Working Group, and NYU Tisch. 2022 Richard Rogers Award Finalist, 2022 Jonathan Larson Award Finalist, and 2021 Jerome Hill Finalist in music.
Truth has mentored multiple generations of artists through instruction at Princeton University, Williams College, Vassar College, Fordham University, University of the Arts, Baruch College, Brooklyn College, Queens Theatre, Brooklyn Arts Council, Arts Connection, NYU Tisch, and NYU Abu Dhabi.
