French Horn player Zachary Travis is currently a member of The Orchestra Now program at Bard College where he enjoys the opportunity to perform in orchestral and chamber settings alongside highly talented young artists. As a fellow in the program, Zach has performed dozens of concerts throughout the Hudson Valley and New York City, worked with world-renowned guest artists, and engaged intellectually with topics concerning the modern symphony orchestra. In the recent past, Zachary has appeared as the principal horn of the Blue Ash/Montgomery Symphony Orchestra as well as guest principal horn and assistant principal horn of the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, both organizations being based in the Cincinnati metro area. Zachary has also appeared in chamber music settings where he most recently was a member of the Temple University New School Wind Quintet, and he performed in numerous chamber music ensembles at the Sarasota Music Festival in 2018. Zachary has also been a substitute member of The New World Symphony in Miami, FL and an associate member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Zachary holds a Master’s of Music from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, a Bachelor’s of Music from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and a Professional Studies Certificate from Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance. His primary teachers include Randy C. Gardner, Denise Tryon, and Shawn Hagen.
