The National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica was created in 1940 and next October 31 will celebrate its 82nd anniversary. The American Carl St. Clair has been its Director since 2014.
It is currently considered one of the best orchestras in Latin America and in November 2017 it was awarded the Latin Grammy in the category of "Best Classical Music Album" for its album Música de Compositores Costarricenses Volume 2. Its albums Bossa Nova Sinfónico and Música de Costa Rican Composers Volume I were also nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2013 and 2014.
For 2022, it has scheduled performances with great artists such as the American violinist Rachel Barton Pine, the German pianist Markus Groh and the American pianist Clair Huangci, as well as with conductors such as Maximiano Valdes, John Nelson and Rossen Milanov.
