The Seville Symphony Orchestra was created in 1990 by decision of the Junta de Andalucía and the Hon. Seville City Council, entities 50% owned and whose management body of the company, ORQUESTA DE SEVILLA SA, is a Board of Directors made up of representatives of both institutions and a managing CEO. Its first Artistic Director and Head was the Croatian Vjekoslav Šutej, who sadly passed away in December 2009, the true designer of the Orchestra, who remained in charge of it until 1996.
