Oversees 150 major gift donor relationships, directly soliciting up to $50,000 in gifts. Responsible for building and integrating $100,000 to $1 MM gift strategies, external communications and materials targeting the Hispanic community in the greater San Diego area. Created a Hispanic Affairs Department that obtained 3 $100,000 gifts for the initiative "Opera en Español" for the 2019 - 2021 Season, San Diego Opera. Strategically managed a portfolio of 150 annual gifts and major gift donors and prospects. On track to achieve a 92% retention rate for FY2018 and FY2019 and upgrades in all major gift categories. Through the "Ópera en Español Initiative," Andrea Puente Catán is establishing ties with opera programs in Baja California Norte, Sinaloa and San Diego. In September 2019, Andrea visited Culiacán with San Diego Opera Director David Bennett. She spearheaded this initiative and was present at the signing of an agreement for San Diego Opera to co-produce Daniel Catán's "The Daughter of Rapaccinni" with the Operas of Culiacán and Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. Promising opera students from Sinaloa will have the opportunity to take Master Classes with the San Diego Opera Company. San Diego Opera is also donating the set design of the Opera Aída to the Sinaloa Opera for a tentative production in 2021.
