Alberta Douglas was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was surrounded by a musical family and decided to begin taking violin lessons in elementary school at the age of seven. At the age of thirteen she began taking private violin lessons with violinist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Booker Rowe. In 2013, Alberta began attending University of Minnesota Duluth and graduated 2018 with a Bachelor’s in Music Performance, studying violin with Rudy Perrault. Alberta has played for Vanessa Williams, Lauryn Hill, Rick Ross, Robert Glasper, Derek Hodge, Frankie Avalon, Andrea Bocelli, Darlene Love, Haley Reinhart, Landau Murphy Jr., and Dave Damiani. She has also played with The Philly POPS, Reading Symphony Orchestra, Colour of Music Festival Orchestra, Orchestra Noir, Bucks County Symphony Orchestra, Lower Merion Symphony Orchestra, UMD Sinfonietta and Minnesota Ballet, Gateways Music Festival Orchestra and Main Line Symphony Orchestra.
