Based in Southern California, Elvin Schlanger serves as the Principal Flute of the Grant Park Music Festival and the Fresno Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as 3rd Flute/Piccolo of the Las Vegas Philharmonic. He also holds a fellowship with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. He has previously served as Principal Flute of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, and has made appearances with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Pacific Symphony, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, among others. 

Elvin has won and placed in several competitions such as the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition and the San Diego Flute Guild Young Artist Competition. Most recently, he was invited to compete in the 2026 Carl Nielsen International Competition. He has appeared as a soloist with the Inland Valley Youth Symphony, Southern California Philharmonic, Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra, Pacific Academy Festival Orchestra, the Colburn Orchestra, and the Dayton Philharmonic. He has had the opportunity to study at renowned summer festivals such as Music Academy of the West, Hidden Valley Festival of Winds, and Domaine Forget. An emerging recording artist, he can be heard on Netflix's Monster: The Ed Gein Story.

Elvin received his Artist Diploma from the Colburn School where he studied with Jim Walker. He is also a graduate of the Yale School of Music where he earned his Master's Degree studying with Ransom Wilson, and of CSU Long Beach where he received his Bachelor's Degree studying with Dr. John Barcellona. He has had the honor of working with legendary flutists and teachers such as Catherine Karoly, Sarah Jackson, Carol Wincenc, Demarre McGill, Dr. Jennifer Grim, Philippe Bernold, Emmanuel Pahud, Yubeen Kim, and Sebastian Jacot. 

Elvin is a Wm. S. Haynes Young Artist, and plays a Haynes Custom Fusion flute.
