Ethan Balakrishnan studied with Grigory Kalinovsky at the IU Jacobs School of Music. Raised in Ottawa, he previously studied with Elaine and Rosemarie Klimasko. At IU, Ethan has played as Concertmaster of the Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestras. He is contracted as a section violinist with the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. In 2015, he was awarded the NAC Bursary Competition Friends of the NAC Orchestra Award and MusicFest Canada’s top prize, the Kando Award. His summer festivals include Music Academy of the West, NYO Canada, and the YAP Precollege.
