Marie-Pierre Labelle
Music has always been around for Marie-Pierre Labelle: at the age of 10 months old, we have pictures of her seated on the family piano bench. She starts piano lessons at 4 and a half with Christine Harel. In primary school, Carmen Turcotte, affiliated to the Ecole de Musique Vincent-d'Indy, teaches her the basics of the piano.

Biography

Marie-Pierre Labelle

Charlotte Dumas, in CEGEP at Vincent-d'Indy, helps her improve her technical skills and encourages her to enroll in music at University of Montreal, where she starts her bachelor in Musicology in 2005. It is thanks to Christian Parent and Marc Durand, piano teachers at the faculty, that Marie-Pierre discovers Erik Satie, and more specifically the romantic era on the piano. Pianist and teacher Pierre Jasmin, at Université du Québec à Montréal when studying music teaching, supports her in specializing on music by composers from the romantic era; thanks to him, Marie-Pierre improves her musical and emotional skills on the piano. After two homemade albums, Marie-Pierre loves to perform in front of a public. Last summer, she played piano in four different elders' homes in Montreal. She also offers classical music for special events: birth celebration, baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, wedding, funerals, reunions, or others.
