Vincent LaMonica
(He/Him) Vincent enjoys a varied career as a bassoonist/contrabassoonist, conductor, and educator. He teaches at The Hartt School, is the bassoonist and executive director of the Doclé Reed Quintet, and own the Quiet Corner Music Studio in his hometown. Vincent actively volunteers with Laurel Music Camp and the Women Composers Festival of Hartford.

Biography

Vincent LaMonica

Vincent has appeared as a soloist with large ensembles on six occasions, most recently including Dana Wilson’s Avatar Concerto for amplified bassoon and chamber wind ensemble at Northwestern University. Vincent is a freelance bassoonist and contrabassoonist, having performed with the symphony orchestras of Albany (NY), Springfield (MA), Portland (ME), Bangor (ME), Kenosha (WI), and Claflin Hill (Milford, MA), and the Orchestra of Indian Hill (Littleton, MA). As an advocate of new music, Vincent has commissioned and premiered a diverse array of works as a soloist, chamber musician, and in large ensembles. Through the Doclé Reed Quintet, Vincent is continuing this work by commissioning new reed quintet repertoire from up-and-coming composers. He is on the board of directors for the Women Composers Festival of Hartford, an annual celebration of incredible music past, present, and future women composers. Vincent conducts local community bands and has been a guest conductor with several school programs. In January 2020, Vincent conducted Connecticut's Southern Region High School Band, leading them in works by William Grant Still, Julie Giroux, Sousa, and Andrew Boysen, Jr. Vincent completed Master’s program at the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University (Evanston, IL), where he studied under the tutelage of David McGill. His previous teachers have included Nancy Goeres, Margaret Phillips, Ronald Haroutunian, Rebecca Eldredge, and Janet Polk.
