Excerpt from Texas Observed:
Sarah’s composition is a brilliant mix of pulsing beats, emotive electronic soundscapes, and rich orchestral instrumentation, blending together ancient and modern ideals of sound and tonality. Each movement was hypnotically engaging, culminating in not so much a musical story arc, but rather a singularly expressive moment expanded over roughly 81 minutes. As the house lights came up at the end of the performance, one could see several people in the audience wiping away tears, gathering themselves back to the present place and time. I can think of no better way of connecting with the local community than through an experience that was at once intellectually intoxicating and emotionally sobering.’

'Despite the chill in the air, the audience surrendered to the haunting accompaniment of George Sarah's specially composed score for a chamber music string quartet, keyboard, electronic beats and voices, and followed Joan on her sorrowful journey.’

One of the best films ever made by over 100 critics.
"You cannot know the history of silent film unless you know the face
of Renée Jeanne Falconetti. In a medium without words, where the
filmmakers believed that the camera captured the essence of characters
through their faces, to see Falconetti in Dreyer's "The Passion of
Joan of Arc" (1928) is to look into eyes that will never leave you." -

After being commissioned by Los Angeles Grand Performances in 2010 to compose and perform a live score for "The Passion of Joan of Arc," George Sarah is in the process of booking live performances of this film score throughout North America and Europe. Ideal for Classic Film theaters and performing arts centers, this performance is also appropriate for outdoor community-sponsored performances.
