Seattle Opera is looking for a visionary leader to serve as its next General Director. The new General Director will represent Seattle Opera across the opera world, continuing to build its reputation as one of the nation’s most respected performing arts institutions. This person will set the artistic vision for the company and lead a team of talented and dedicated staff to produce opera at the pinnacle of the art form. They will engage audiences through new interpretations and innovative productions, collaborate with top artistic talent and community partners, and nurture arts programs and educational outreach in the community. The new General Director will also build resources (both contributed and earned) and ensure the healthy operation and fiscal management of the company. As the sole direct report to Seattle Opera’s Board of Directors, the General Director will operate from a deeply relational place, forming effective bonds with Board, Staff, and the community-at-large. The artistic reputation of Seattle Opera will be the General Director’s primary consideration, and that commitment will manifest itself in energized audiences and increasing recognition of the company.
