North Carolina Opera is a budget 3 company (Opera America classification; $1.7 million) in Raleigh, NC. It produces 3-4 mainstage operas each season, along with recitals, concerts, and outreach programs.
North Carolina Opera is seeking a full-time Director of Development. The Director of Development will work with the General Director and Development Committee of the Board of Directors to secure philanthropic support for the Opera. Responsibilities include:

- Managing the annual fund
- Securing corporate sponsorships
- Securing sponsorships for the annual Gala
- Overseeing the preparation of grant applications
- Managing the patron program
- Overseeing the creation of the development calendar.
- Soliciting donors
- Prospect research
- Overseeing staff responsible for data entry, gift processing, and acknowledgements

Requirements:
- 3-5 years experience in fundraising
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Experience using a donor database
- Strong organizational ability
- a positive outlook

- interest in opera and classical music a plus but not essential

This position is primarily in-person. However, some accommodations for hybrid work can be made.
