Description

The Danish National Symphony Orchestra and Chief Conductor Fabio Luisi are
pleased to invite applications for the following position:

Associate Principal Horn/3rd Horn

This is a permanent, full time position with a one-year trial period.
Playing the Wagner tuba will also be a part of the position.

The Danish National Symphony Orchestra is one of the world’s oldest
broadcasting symphony orchestras and is part of the Danish Broadcasting
Corporation - a leading producer of culture, regionally, nationally and
internationally.

The Corporation includes 5 ensembles – a symphony orchestra, choirs and a
big band - and as such is an important ambassador for Danish music and
culture abroad.

The Danish Symphony Orchestra continuously collaborates with the world's
leading soloists and conductors. In addition to the prestigious lineup of
titled artists, internationally acclaimed conductors such as Gianandrea
Noseda, Vasily Petrenko, Lorenzo Viotti and Juanjo Mena have conducted the orchestra to great critical acclaim. Maestro Herbert Blomstedt and Thomas
Dausgaard are both appointed Conductors’ Laureate of the orchestra.
Maestro Fabio Luisi was appointed as Chief Conductor in 2017.
The DR Concert Hall is designed by French architect Jean Nouvel with
acoustics by Yasuhisa Toyota and has been rated one of the world’s best
concert halls by ‘Gramophone’. Most of the orchestra’s concerts are broadcast
on Danish Radio and to many regions of the world through the European
Broadcasting Union.

The audition will take place on:
June 6th: Preliminary Round
June 7th: 1st and 2nd Rounds
June 8th: 3rd Round (with orchestra)

On Friday, April 28 2023, we will annoounce by email who will be invited to the preliminary round, and who is invited directly to the 1st round.

Working in the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and in Denmark
The orchestra's work schedule is based on 24 hours a week plus 15 hours
individual preparation, 42 weeks per year. Normally rehearsals are held
Monday to Friday with concerts twice a week. Domestic and international
touring is also a contractual obligation.

Annual salary: 429.157 - 528.163 DKK plus pension paid monthly over 12
