Guitar Audition Procedure:
All applicants must register with the Auditions Supervisor prior to auditioning. Please e-mail
NavyMusicAuditions@navy.mil to register. Guitarists auditioning for U.S. Navy Fleet Bands
must perform on electric guitar. With the exception of chord melody, all selections must be
performed with backing tracks provided by the applicant. E-mail Auditions Supervisor for
backing track materials.

The audition will consist of the following:
1. Smooth: Transcribe and perform from the top through the first guitar solo.

7. Solo: Any tune of your choosing.

Sight-reading is required. The applicant will read from a Real/Fake Book and should be prepared to
sight-read a blues, swing and Latin selection. The applicant will be asked to play the head, comp the
changes, and perform an improvised solo.
