Description

Description: Reporting to the Senior Director of Performance Operations and External Venue Relations, the Production Manager serves as the primary stage manager for all ensembles in the Orchestral Studies department. This position coordinates production and technical logistics for Juilliard’s orchestral and contemporary ensembles and supervises the work-study setup crew for events and activities happening in the orchestral studios. This position manages the inventory and maintenance of equipment and auxiliary instruments in the Orchestral Studies department. (F-T, Exempt, 42 weeks)

Responsibilities:

Ensemble Production and Stage Management:
- Manage ensemble events, including venue preparation, setup, and stage changes in orchestral studios and performance venues
- Serve as primary stage manager for orchestral and contemporary music ensemble performances
- Prepare stage diagrams and event summaries in collaboration with Senior Director of Performance Operations and External Venue Relations
- Coordinate all technical details with students, conductors, ensemble managers, Orchestra Library, Recording, Public Affairs, venue staff, and others
- Communicate production and technical details with venue staff, manage venue crew onsite
- Coordinate piano tunings for events in orchestral studios and performance venues
- Coordinate equipment/instrument transport and load-in/out with Percussion Department Coordinator and Harp department
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of orchestral studios and handle light maintenance needs or report to Facilities as needed
- Work with Operations and Personnel Manager to ensure daily operations of orchestral studios run smoothly
- Manage special projects (extra performances, recording sessions, interdisciplinary productions, etc.) as assigned

Instrument and Equipment Management:
- Monitor and oversee the maintenance of the wind and brass instrument collections
- Manage scheduling, setup, and maintenance of electronic equipment and keyboard instruments
- Responsible for making sure equipment is properly stored and maintained

Supervision:
- Hire, train, and manage work-study setup crew, approve biweekly timesheets, maintain and track budget

Ensemble Management:
- Assist with monitoring rehearsals (attendance, start/stop times, post-rehearsal reports), as needed
