Description

The Philanthropy Writer supports HGOs Institutional Giving (corporate, foundation and government) fundraising efforts by writing a high volume of persuasive fundraising copy for proposals and reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft high volume of fundraising proposals and grant reports for institutional giving
- Liaise with other departments to gather updated program information, key messaging, compelling stories, demographic data, and other statistics and data points to support fundraising requests. This includes working closely with Communications and attending regular meetings with key colleagues in Artistic, Community and Learning, Audiences, etc.
- Write other Philanthropy materials as needed: End of Season report, donor profiles, nominations, talking points for events, guarantor letters, content for the donor newsletter Opera Unleashed and other publications, and more
- Manage Philanthropy department language bank and proactively share key messages and stories with Philanthropy colleagues
- Proofread and edit materials for Director and Philanthropy colleagues
- Assist Director with foundation prospecting strategy, basic research, and initial outreach
- Accompany Director on visits with donors to listen and draft follow-up materials
- Staff Philanthropy events as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Three or more years of experience in communications, fundraising, business writing, sales/marketing, relationship management/customer/client service, or a related field. Must have demonstrated ability to work ahead of deadline and manage projects involving multiple departments. Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is necessary. Requires occasional night and weekend work. Bachelors degree preferred.
