Oberlin College and Conservatory invites applications for the position of Conservatory Event Publicity and Marketing Specialist. This is a full-time, in-person, continuing 12-month administrative and professional staff position reporting to the director of conservatory communications in the Oberlin College & Conservatory Office of Communications. The specialist will be responsible for promoting both free and ticketed events to the campus community and patrons and assist the director of conservatory communications.
The specialist will be responsible for promoting both free and ticketed events to the campus community and patrons across northern Ohio via public relations, content marketing, social media, direct email, and advertising. They will also assist the director of conservatory communications, who manages the brand of Oberlin Conservatory, and manages student recruitment and alumni communications.
Produces and sends “This Week at the Conservatory” email newsletter
Produces promotional graphics for campus digital signage
Creates posts for Oberlin Conservatory social media channels
Writes ad copy and produces simple display ads for event promotion
Manages digital, radio, and print advertising
Writes copy for and coordinates production of brochures, postcards, mailers, and other promotional materials
Creates and updates web pages related to event promotion
Takes photos and video as needed for event promotion purposes
Coordinates production of event program and other event collateral for high profile conservatory events
Acts as project lead for all conservatory event-related projects, ensuring projects are completed on time and on budget
Assists the director of conservatory communications as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in music, arts administration, communications, marketing, journalism, or related field
Demonstrated background in or strong knowledge of classical and/or jazz concert music
At least two years of experience in communications, public relations, or marketing in a cultural arts or higher education setting
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
