Description

It’s an exciting time to join The Phoenix Symphony performing arts as we celebrate our 77th Anniversary in 2023-24. As one of the greater Phoenix area’s most iconic institutions, we are seeking dynamic, outgoing, goal-oriented team members to join our team and help propel the Symphony into its next phase of artistic and organizational growth.

Purpose of the Position:

The Assistant Conductor of the Symphony (TPS) conducts rehearsals and concerts as assigned which includes the development and direction of all family and educational programs and concerts. As the cover conductor, the position will attend selected rehearsals and concerts in order to prepare for unexpected conducting duties and/or provide additional assistance or advice. Assists and advises the Music Director and management team on artistic matters. Serves as TPS ambassador in the community.

Education/Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree in music performance or Master’s degree in orchestral conducting preferred
- Prior conducting experience and/or mentorship with a Tier 2 or 3 orchestra (as defined by the League of American Orchestras) and/or Budget 3-5 level opera company.
