For Education and Community Engagement Events:

A short solo piano piece demonstrating technical ability
Have an interest in playing for community engagements such as performances for schools, hospitals, and independent living centers
Have an interest in working with young students to develop their musical skills, exploring songwriting, and building new works

Playing and singing: An accompanied recitative and aria, by Mozart of your own choice
Playing and singing: Act 2 of Puccini’s La bohème (until after Musetta’s aria) while following a conductor

Playing and singing: One of the two following arias: Strauss, R. Ariadne auf Naxos: Composer Aria (Komponist) or Stravinsky, The Rake’s Progress: “No word for Tom…I go to him”.

Please note: For each of the selections we ask that you play the piano reduction as well as sing each of the individual vocal parts. We are not testing your ability as a singer; do not worry if it does not sound “beautiful.” What we are ascertaining is your absorption of the basic content of the voice parts, and your ability to demonstrate this while simultaneously playing the piano reduction.
