Position Description

Instructor of Horn

The University of Mississippi invites applications for the faculty position (non-tenure track) of Instructor of Horn in the Department of Music in the College of Liberal Arts.

Responsibilities: Teach applied horn, teach a high brass methods course (for music education students), perform in the Faculty Woodwind and Brass Quintets, participate in end-of-the-semester jury exams, and teach other courses as assigned. Evidence of a secondary area of teaching expertise is
desirable, e.g., music theory or music history/literature.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates for the position must have earned a Master of Music degree in Horn Performance, an equivalent degree, or have demonstrated equivalent experience.

About the Music Department
The University of Mississippi Department of Music’s mission is to prepare students for professional careers by offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education and performance, master’s degrees in choral conducting, collaborative piano, musicology, ethnomusicology, and music theory,
and a PhD in Music Education. Students entering our programs become part of a vibrant community led by a distinguished faculty, with 25 full-time and 12 adjunct members dedicated to teaching, research and performance. Our students (more than 150 majors) receive the rigorous individual
