The Bay Philharmonic Youth Orchestra is seeking an entrepreneurial and dynamic conductor/teacher. The candidate should have a clear vision and strategy for growth to create one of the most exciting youth orchestras in the Bay Area region. Requirements include the ability to recruit and retain a large number of beginning, intermediate and advanced students; communicate in a collaborative way with private and public teachers, parents and administrators; teach in a way that emphasizes joy and expression from musicians; conduct at a high level that inspires the musicians to follow a conductor in a sophisticated way; and work within a budget and assist in fundraising. The chosen candidate will work very closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director of the Bay Philharmonic, conductor of the younger orchestras (Marcella Schantz), and the prior music director of the youth orchestra (Judy Lam).
