The School of Music seeks a part-time opera costumer with demonstrable skills in stitching, draping, pattern drafting, and wardrobe supervision.
In addition to some construction, repair and alteration of opera costumes the Costumer will also be responsible for creating and implementing plans for the successful load in, daily support, and load out of the production. Based upon professional models, the costumer will also train students in the appropriate skills to run a show and to manage the daily maintenance of production costume pieces. Knowledge of costume machinery, garment construction materials, finishing methods, garment care, and backstage wardrobe skills are necessary. The Costumer will serve as an on-site resource working out of the School of Drama’s Costume Studio facility.
