ASSOCIATE PRODUCTION DIRECTOR

San Diego Opera is seeking applications for a full time Associate Production Director to assist Director of Production and Artistic Administration in all aspects of SDO season productions and future planning. The position will also work with personnel at the Scenic Studio to ensure smooth and profitable operations. This role is an integral part of a small artistic and production team responsible for all onstage events. Daily work is varied and includes administrative tasks as well as decision making and high-level recommendations. Detailed season planning and execution are guided by the core values of fiscal responsibility and nimble adaptation.

Ideal candidates have 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role in a performing arts organization (bonus for opera experience). Must be flexible and a quick learner as well as a self-starter. Ability to manage diverse tasks and responsibilities simultaneously is key. Experience with office software as well as the ability to quickly learn basics of accounting and database software is necessary. Understanding and technical expertise in different production aspects of performing arts is preferred. The ability to work in different environments as well as work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends is required. San Diego Opera seeks candidates with a commitment to and understanding of principals of equity, diversity, inclusion, access. Salary range is $64,500-$67,000 plus benefits.
