Description
Join us in June 2025 for an introspective journey through poignant choral works by Johannes Brahms, Claude Debussy, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Maurice Ravel. As a special treat, the I Cantori orchestra will be featured in Lili Boulanger's mesmerizing D'un matin de Printemps (Of a Spring Morning).
Experience the depth and intensity of Brahms's Schicksalslied (Song of Destiny), Op. 54, a stirring exploration of fate and existential struggle. Complementing this is Nänie, a powerful meditation on the fleeting nature of beauty and life, showcasing Brahms's masterful expression and emotional depth.
In contrast, our program will also highlight the lush textures of Impressionism with works by Ravel and Debussy. Debussy's Printemps (Spring) is a choral symphonic suite that captures the essence and renewal of nature, overflowing with impressionistic colors and the vibrant imagery of spring. Ravel's L'Aurore (Dawn) elegantly reflects on the symbolism of dawn, portraying the delicate awakening of nature and the refreshing renewal that morning light brings.
We are excited to take a deep-dive into these profound and beautifully crafted pieces and invite you to share in this moving and dynamic exploration of choral music and celebrate our debut at the legendary Sunset Cultural Center and UC Santa Cruz Recital Hall.
